    The Dancing Brush

Before I left for Guam earlier this year, Jennifer and I went to the Dancing Brush in Poulsbo, Washington. Here you pick out an unglazed piece of pottery and paint it yourself. They have a huge variety of pottery to choose from, and they have all the supplies you could possibly need to design and paint your piece. Jennifer decided to make a soap dispenser and came up with a really great scene to put on it.

I decided on a simple tealight candle holder because of a story I remembered about a fisherman and his wife. When the fisherman went out to sea, his wife would keep a candle lit until he came home.

After finishing our works of art, we turned the pieces over to the Dancing Brush. It takes them less than a week to fire the pottery in their kilns. Unfortunately I had to wait to see the finished pieces until after I got back. Jennifer did send me a couple of pictures though. I think they turned out pretty good. She even kept a candle lit for me.
